Being runners, me and my wife enjoy using running gadgets. We have gone through a fair selection of heart rate monitors over the years.
One of the fun things is that we have seen it changing so much over the last 5-10 years.
Beginning 2000s it was very much Polar and Timex that ruled the heart rate monitor market. But Garmin has really jumped in there the last few years.
And with good stuff as well. When it came time to get a new heart rate monitor, I decided to get my first Garmin. I chose the Garmin 310 XT as it is said to be good for multiple sports. I must say that it has lived up to my expectations.
I use the Garmin 310 XT for pretty much every training run now. It tells me everything I need to know and downloads data to the Garmin Connect website - heart rate, distance, amount of calories burned, splits, and even accurate mapping data, and more.
This heart rate monitor is pretty intuitive to use. I have used the manual a few times, but that was just for little things.
You can get it up and running very quickly and you usually only have to wait seconds until it connects to a sattelite.
That has also changed over the years, I have had a GPS running watch that took minutes to conttect to a sattelite and would often fail on me during the run. With the Garmin I have not had that problem yet.
This is definitely a good top-of-the-line heart rate monitor. Don't tell my wife, but it might be my favorite running buddy... :) Just kidding of course!
